About The Project
Vibrations of The Muse, was located at the bus stop in the Village of Goshen. It was a whimsical design filled with Muses playing instruments, butterflies, birch trees, and hidden words of inspiration and musical notes. I hoped that all who sat at this piano would be inspired to play a tune! The piano  was enjoyed by the public and later auctioned off. I now sit on the committee to bring this project to life in our community again.

Mitchell Saler

About the Project:
It was exciting to see the community view, play, and enjoy all of the beautiful pianos, and that they were successfully auctioned.  My piano titled "Farm to Farmers Market" was to present and honor local farming and the connection to nature and history that is a key aspect rooted in the Goshen community.  The landscapes I painted on the piano were inspired by painting en plein air at J & A Bialas Farm in the black dirt region of Goshen. The vegetables on the piano represented a colorful abundance of local produce.  One of the sides featured the highly popular Goshen Farmers Market with its tents and behind them the First Presbyterian Church—a historic Goshen landmark—and I was thrilled that my piano was placed so appropriately in this area when it was on display and available to play.  Thank you to the many people who helped bring this project to fruition and are continuing it for 2017.

Meet The Artist

Cody Rounds has studied art in both the United States and France, and is currently based in the Hudson Valley of New York. Her works, performances, and installations have been featured in exhibitions coast to coast, including a prominent feature by the Blue Man Group in Chicago, Illinois.  Over recent years, Rounds’ heavily painting-based practice has transitioned into conceptual explorations on identity, authenticity, and perceived reality using video projection, performance and media-based work. Her most recent activities include showing at ABD Gallery of Philadelphia, being selected for the Keys of Goshen grant,  co-creating/curating the annual DUSKLIT: Interactive Art Bazaar, and having her work published in Identity & Anonymity: An Artful Anthology alongside artists such as the Guerrilla Girls and Judy Chicago.
About The Project
This piano is created from the concept of what music looks like.  The design is a visual manifestation of the movement, rhythm and energy of a musical composition.  Specifically, this design was created from a meditation on Thelonius Monk's piano piece 'Round Midnight' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC68NtEmAcc)

Laura Bolle

Meet The Artist

Laura Bolle was born and raised in the New York area to a family of professional artists, drawing and pursuing other artistic endeavors were a normal part of her growing-up experience. In her home, greeting cards were always made, never bought, for all occasions. Instruction and guidance were always there, along with much encouragement and support.
While living at home with her talent-ladenfamily of artists, Laura attended the prestigious High School of Music and Art in NYC and followed up with classes at F.I.T. to round other formal education. She then joined her family's graphic art studio which allowed her to further tap into her creative arts spirit and abilities. She worked for many years in New York with large graphic houses and advertising firms while always drawing and painting in her free time.
About The Project
"It was fun, interesting, and bonding experience. I got to know the other artists and never painted a piano before. It was a really great experience!

William O'Keeffe

Slideshow

Youtube

William T. O’Keeffe has had an interest in photography since childhood, but has become increasingly serious about developing his technical skills and artistic expression through images over the last several years.
His tendency is to be attracted to “perfectly imperfect” subjects, from a faded flower or leaf, to a world worn building, or human face.  The character and story behind the well travelled subject is what William hopes to convey, rather than a posed, artificial perfection.
William, an attorney, is a founding member and Partner of the law firm of O’Keeffe & McCann LLP, and his work throughout the Hudson Valley helps to continually put him in harms way of new subjects for inspiration and expression.
Examples of William’s work may be seen at his office Gallery at 25 Main Street, Goshen, NY 10924,

About The Project

I was thrilled to participate in this wonderful project.  From the beginning, there was palpable community support by many eager donors of pianos.  While the technical issues dealing with working on so unusual a medium were a challenge at time, I found it thrilling and creatively inspiring.  During the course of the project I was able to grow to know the other artists and curator even more, and their enthusiasm for the arts was infectious.
Most importantly, the success of the project couldn’t be overstated.  My office is located on Main Street Goshen, central to the five pianos of the project, and not a day would pass without members of the community enjoying playing or listening to these wonderful pianos.  Children exploring, to professional class performers.  All the music created a charm to the Village that gave us lots to brag about.
